NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended 30th Asia-Pacific Roundtable

From May 30th to June 1st, 2016, NISCSS President attended the 30th Asia-Pacific Roundtable in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which was co-organized by the ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS) and the Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia (ISIS Malaysia). The roundtable was focused on important political and economic issues in Asia-Pacific region and was attended by over 300 representatives of political and academic circles in Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world.

 

President Wu delivered a speech entitled "How To Improve Security Cooperation in South China Sea" in Panel Six "Security and Stability in the South China Sea: Possibility amid Complexities", and noted that the prospects for security and cooperation in the South China Sea depend on three factors, including the ASEAN factor, the progress of COC consultation progress, as well as the understanding and cooperation among the disputants.

 

At the end of his speech, President Wu also answered questions on various issues, including the arbitration initiated by the Philippines against China, land reclamation and the nine-dash line.
