NISCSS President Wu Shicun visited think tanks in Tokyo

On 22 June 2016, NISCSS President Wu Shicun headed a delegation of Chinese scholars to visit think tanks in Tokyo. In the morning, the delegation visited Japan Institute of International Affairs and held a discussion with its President Yoshiji Nogami and research staff. Wu briefed the Japanese scholars about China's South China Sea policy, and exchanged ideas about China-Japan relations, the South China Sea arbitration and land reclamation in the Spratlys.

 

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Japan Institute for International Policy Studies and held a discussion with its President Ken Sato and research staff. The two sides exchanged ideas on issues of common concern, including Japanese new security act, lift of the ban on collective self-defense right, the South China Sea arbitration and Japan's role in the South China Sea issues.

 

After visiting think tanks, Wu attended a press release held by the NISCSS and the Ocean Policy Research Foundation of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and briefed the audience about the academic conference entitled "China-Japan Dialogue: Coordination and Cooperation in Ocean Affairs in East Asia". Present at the press release were representatives of over 30 media, including From China's Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, CCTV as well as Japan's Kyodo News Agency, Asahi Shimbun, Sankei Shimbun and NHK.
