On 9 May 2017, NISCSS President Wu Shicun headed a delegation to visit the University of Cambridge and held a discussion with part of its members, including Allen Swales (international officer for Asia-Pacific Affairs at the International Strategy Office), Marc Weller (director of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law) and Kun-Chin Lin (director of the Centre for Rising Powers). The topics under discussion included interagency cooperation, South China Sea arbitration, and consultation on a code of conduct in the South China Sea.

Then Wu was invited to give a lecture on South China Sea issues for part of the master’s and PhD candidates and teachers from the Department of Politics and International Studies, and answered questions on China-Philippines relations, Asia-Pacific policy of the US and other topics.

Zou Keyuan, NISCSS adjunct research professor and Harris Professor in international law at Lancashire Law School of the University of Central Lancashire, accompanied Wu during the visit.
