On July 24, President Wu Shicun presented his view on the current South China Sea dispute and regional hotspot issues at the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), upon the invitation of the institute.

In the two-hour lecture, President Wu shared his thoughts on topics such as the importance of the South China Sea to China, external factors that prompting the South China Sea dispute, the four challenges for China against the context of the current dispute and related two hotspot issues, the future development of the dispute, and China’s South China Sea policies. He also answered questions from the audience after the presentation.

CPIFA was founded in 1949 on the initiative of the late Premier Zhou Enlai. It is an important social organization dedicated to the research on foreign policies and international hotspot issues, as well as the development of friendship and cooperation between China and other countries.
