NISCSS President Wu Shicun an academic conference in Beijing

On 12 December 2015, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended the “Conference on International Situation and China’s Diplomacy 2015” in Beijing. It was co-organized by China Institute of International Studies and China Foundation for International Studies. President Wu made a speech entitled “New Changes and New Challenges: International Dimension of South China Sea Issues” and shared his viewpoints on the current situation in the South China Sea, China’s land reclamation efforts, the arbitration unilaterally launched by the Philippines against China and the nine-dash line.

 

The “Conference on International Situation and China’s Diplomacy” was incepted in 1989 and is designed to promote the exchanges between political community and academic community as well as facilitate benign interaction between academic research and diplomatic policymaking.

 

This year, the conference was themed “the Evolution of International Order and Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics” and brought together over 150 participants from government agencies, military, colleges, universities, research agencies and domestic leading media. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the opening ceremony and made a keynote speech.
