NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended seminar in New Delhi

On May 16-17, 2016, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended the Seminar on India-China Maritime Cooperation in New Delhi, which was co-organized by the NISCSS, Indian Vivekananda International Foundation, the Institute of International Strategy at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Chinese Naval Institute of Military Science. The four topics included "Strategic Interests in the Ocean", "Economic Interests in the Indo-Pacific", "Maritime Security Concerns" and "Prospects for India-China Maritime Cooperation".

 

In his keynote speech, President Wu shared his ideas on various hot topics, including the current situation in the South China Sea and its evolvement, China’s South China Sea policy, China’s land reclamation efforts in the South China Sea, and the arbitration initiated by the Philippines against China.

 

NISCSS research staff Hong Nong and Yan Yan respectively made speeches on challenges to China-India maritime security and the implications of China-U.S. confidence building mechanism for China-India maritime cooperation. Dr. Sourabh Gupta, resident senior fellow from the Institute for China-America Studies, made a speech on the prospects for China-India maritime cooperation.

 

Research fellow Zhang Junshe from Chinese Naval Institute of Military Science and associate research fellow Ye Hailin from the Institute of International Strategy at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences also made speeches on related topics.
