On 25 June 2016, NISCSS Vice President Xi Jinsong met with the delegation of the Seventh National Coordinators' Meeting for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries. The two sides exchanged ideas on the origin and status quo of the South China Sea issue, China's South China Sea policy, China-ASEAN cooperation and the South China Sea arbitration.

From June 24-28, the Seventh National Coordinators' Meeting for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries was held in Hainan Province.
