NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended China-US dialogue on South China Sea

On 5 July 2016 EST, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended the China-US dialogue on South China Sea between Chinese and US think tanks in Washington, DC. Former Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo and former US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte made keynote speeches at the opening ceremony.

 

Scholars and former senior officials from the two countries discussed how to view the South China Sea issues and their future from multiple perspectives. They also discussed the approaches to finding a pragmatic solution to the issues.

 

Wu elaborated on how China and the US could cooperate on crisis management in the South China Sea.

 

Dr. Hong Nong, executive director of the Institute for China-America Studies, also attended the dialogue.

 

The dialogue was jointly organized by the NISCSS, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
