On 12 April 2017, NISCSS President Wu Shicun was interviewed in Beijing by Koichi Furuya, a journalist with the Asahi Shimbun, and answered questions about various topics, including Wu's upcoming book release in Japan, Japan’s policy and stance towards the South China Sea, China-Philippines disputes over the Scarborough Shoal,and the U.S.policy towards the Asia-Pacific and the South China Sea.

The Japanese version of Wu’s new book on China and the disputes over the Spratly Islands, to be published by Japanese Kadensha Press, will be released on April 19 in Tokyo.
