NISCSS President Wu Shicun talked with diplomatic officials and think tank scholars in UK

On 10 May 2017, NISCSS President Wu Shicun headed a delegation to visit the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), and held a talk with John Virgoe (head of Southeast Asian Department, FCO) and Andrew Murdoch (legal adviser) on the current situation in the South China Sea, the South China Sea arbitration, the COC consultation, China-UK relations as well as the US policy towards the South China Sea.

 

On the same day, Wu visited the Royal Institute of International Affairs, commonly known as Chatham House, and held a talk with Bill Hayton (associate fellow of Asia Programme) and Harriet Moynihan (associate fellow of International Law Programme) on the current situation in the South China Sea, the freedom of navigation program of the US, China’s historic rights in the South China Sea. Also present at the activity were officials from Chinese embassy in the UK.

 

Additionally, Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the UK, met with the delegation.
