"Chinese President Xi Jinping has highlighted the role of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Daily, and called on the paper to play a leading role in strengthening the military and innovate in journalistic practice.

The PLA Daily must adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and serve the PLA, which is also under the CPC leadership, said Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC)."
