"Vietnam acclaims the US House of Representatives' adoption on Dec. 4 of a resolution which supports efforts to resolve maritime territorial disputes in the East Sea (South China Sea) by peaceful measures, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Vietnam "backs all efforts to make active, effective and constructive contributions to maintaining peace, stability, security and safety" of navigation and aviation in the region, ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh said.

The US House of Representatives' resolution stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of maritime territorial disputes in the South China Sea and the East China Sea."
