For Trump, the election has ended

Before the second debate of the US presidential election began, an article on The Economist website had already asserted that the exposed video showing Trump insulting women during a TV program 11 years ago was enough to ruin his political career.

Facing a political storm, Trump began with a statement, followed with apologetic videos. His wife Melania and running mate Mike Pence condemned his insulting comments. Pence even cancelled a canvassing campaign appearance, dealing a heavy blow to Trump's presidential campaign."
