(Opinion) US gains as NATO ups Russian pressure

"NATO recently announced plans to deploy multinational contingents led by the US, Britain, Canada and Germany to countries bordering Russia: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland. It will also double the size of a quick-response army to 40,000 personnel and establish a 5,000-strong vanguard force. This is NATO's biggest military deployment since its eastward expansion started 20 years ago.

On the surface, it's a move to improve the military response capability by European Union countries, but it will also consolidate the military bond between the US and its allies. The world's biggest military organization, NATO, is dispatching more troops to its frontline, and in the meantime strengthens its cohesion, which contributes to the global strategy of the US.

The justification of NATO's military buildup is 'Russia becoming increasingly aggressive' and threatening the security of the EU."
