India Ready To Counter China’s Influence In Seas

"A couple of days after Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj assured the Lok Sabha – Lower House of the Indian Parliament – that India was well aware of a nuclear deal signed by Pakistan and China, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the South Asian country was fully prepared to deal with China's influence in seas.


Parrikar told the House that the Narendra Modi government started taking necessary steps to counter the growing influence of Beijing in neighbouring countries, particularly in their seas. According to the minister, New Delhi is closely monitoring the Chinese activities in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He once again made it clear that India would never accept the free movement of Chinese Naval vessels in Pakistani and Sri Lankan waters."
