The possibility of war on the Korean Peninsula remains weak even as the situation deteriorates, analysts said, following reports that North Korea is preparing to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) after its sixth nuclear test on Sunday.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said in a press briefing on Tuesday that Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi talked to his South Korean counterpart over phone on China's stance on the Korean nuclear issue.

China would participate in the UN discussions with responsible attitude in an effort to promote the denuclearization on the peninsula, Geng said.
