Fired chief David Shulkin says Trump has made White House toxic

The latest victim of President Trump’s administration purge has accused the White House of silencing critics and creating a poisonous political environment to oust dissenters.
David Shulkin, whose removal as secretary of veterans affairs was announced by Mr Trump via Twitter yesterday, accused the president of turning Washington into a place “so toxic, chaotic, disrespectful and subversive” that it has become impossible to work.
He claimed that his removal was the result of a sinister plot to privatise services offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which he tried to stop.
