ORLANDO, Fla. — It’s everything Donald Trump wanted, and so much more.
The optics-obsessed president will be greeted by thousands of adoring supporters when he arrives here on Tuesday to kick off his bid for a second term. In lieu of a red carpet, a sea of red, white and camouflage hats will provide the backdrop for his first official campaign rally of the 2020 cycle.
Fans who camped out since dusk on Monday are expected to file in and pack the 20,000-seat Amway Center to the brim, chanting familiar slogans as anticipation builds for the evening’s main act. Giant TV screens are set up outside around the perimeter of the arena to carry the president’s remarks live — giving those who were unable to snag a spot inside the sense that they are still participants.
