White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday that President Joe Biden would back efforts to establish a review of the January insurrection akin to the 9/11 Commission.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday said that she would move quickly to set up such a panel in order for Congress to “get to the truth” of the deadly, chaotic events that day. On Tuesday, Psaki indicated Biden would sign legislation to that effect if it came to his desk.

“It's of course Congress' decision to form this commission, but it's one the president would support,” she told reporters. “He backs efforts to shed additional light on the facts to ensure something like that never happens again.”
