On 15 November 2017, the closing ceremony of the 3^rd Program of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance was held in Haikou. The ten-day program was co-organized by the NISCSS, China-Southeast Asia Research Center on the South China Sea, the International Ocean Institute –Canada (IOI-Canada) and the Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies of Wuhan University.

Participants from China and ASEAN countries presented their group reports, and got their certificates awarded from the Academy for completing the program. Xi Jinsong, Vice President of the NISCSS and Michael Butler, Director of IOI-Canada delivered remarks on the closing ceremony.

Participant representatives from ASEAN countries spoke highly of the course design and program organization in their remarks at the closing ceremony. They believe the program has not only increased their knowledge of the latest research, methodology and practice in various disciplines of ocean governance, but also enhanced the mutual understanding, trust and friendship among all participants.
