Dr. Yan Yan delivered a lecture for training program in Malaysia

On March 11, at the invitation of the Embassy of Malaysia in China, Dr. Yan Yan, Director of the Research Center of Oceans Law and Policy in NISCSS, delivered an online lecture entitled “China’s & the South China Sea: China’s Policy & Prospects for Cooperation” in the “2022 Asian Regional Security and Strategic Issues” training program, which was co-hosted by the Embassy of Malaysia in China, the National Defence University of Malaysia and the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College.
The theme for this year’s training program is “The South China Sea Dispute: Non-Claimants ASEAN Member’s Strategic Responses”. During the two-hour lecture, Dr. Yan stated and also exchanged views with participants on issues such as China’s claims in the South China Sea, maritime policy and the law of the sea, South China Sea security and international law, consultation on the “Code of Conduct in the South China Sea” and China-ASEAN maritime cooperation. About 180 officers from nearly 20 countries including Malaysia, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, and Pakistan attended the training program online.
