On 17 October 2014, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended a roundtable discussion hosted by Bruneian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President Wu talked about the current situation in the South China Sea, the Philippine arbitration against China, the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, management and control of the disputes in the South China Sea, the building of the maritime silk road in the 21st century and other issues with Bruneian diplomats and experts, including Mr. Dato Erywan Yusof, permanent secretary from Bruneian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Counsellor Fang Xinwen from Chinese Embassy in Brunei also attended the discussion.

Then, President Wu paid a visit to H.E. Zheng Xianglin, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei, and talked about the situation in the South China Sea and other issues with members of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei.
