On 19 October 2015, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended the 12th International Sea Power Symposium, which was organized by the ROK navy in Busan. President Wu delivered a speech entitled "Latest Developments in the South China Sea and Maritime Policies of China and the US."

Present at the symposium were over 300 participants from military, political and academic circles of the ROK, China, the US, Japan, Australia and other countries. Admiral Jung Ho-Sub (chief of naval operations of the ROK) and Vice Admiral Joseph P. Aucoin (commander of US 7th Fleet) attended the symposium and made opening remarks.

The participants discussed security environment and prospects in East Asia, and measures to enhance regional cooperation on maritime security.
