In October 2015, Mark J. Valencia, senior maritime policy analyst of the United States, visited the NISCSS. On October 22, he held a seminar for the NISCSS research staff on possible scenarios of US-China confrontation in the South China Sea and future development of arbitration case launched by the Philippines against China.
