On 23 May 2014, Vivian Forbes, guest professor of the NISCSS and professor of the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Western Australia, gave a lecture on lines of marine resource allocation in the Arafura and Timor Seas.
Present at the lecture included President Wu Shicun, NISCSS research staff  and relevant people from the Department of Ocean and Fisheries of Hainan Province.
