On 17 November 2015, NISCSS President Wu Shicun visited the School of Law at the University of Virginia, and talked about institutional cooperation with Myron H. Nordquist, associate director of the Center for Oceans Law and Policy.

President Wu also exchanged ideas with students of the law school on the South China Sea issues, such as the current situation, South China Sea disputes from a legal perspective, and the arbitration case launched by the Philippines against China.
