On 3 December 2014, an eight-member Australian delegation led by Mr.Mark Binskin(Air Chief Marshal, Chief of the Defence Force) and Mr.Dennnis Richardson(Secretary of the Department of Defence) visited the NISCSS.

The NISCSS research staff delivered presentations about the origin and development of the South China Sea issue, China’s South China Sea policy and proposition as well as joint development. The two sides also held in-depth discussion about the nine-dashed line and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.

NISCSS Vice President Xi Jinsong chaired the meeting and NISCSS Vice President Chen Rumao also attended the meeting.
