On 11 July 2016, NISCSS President Wu Shicun held a meeting with an academic delegation from China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), and shared his ideas on the impact of the final award of the South China Sea arbitration on the situation in the South China Sea, land reclamation in the Spratlys, management of fishery resources and safety of navigation in the South China Sea.

The delegation was composed of over ten young scholars from China and the US.
