On 12 December 2014, Professor Vivian Forbes from the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Western Australia was appointed as an adjunct research professor of the National Institute for South China Sea Studies (NISCSS), and NISCSS President Wu Shicun awarded a letter of appointment to him.
