On 24 February 2017, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended the 3rd conference of the council of Chinese Think Tank Cooperation Alliance for the “Belt and Road” in Beijing at the invitation of China Center for Contemporary World Studies and the secretariat of the Chinese Think Tank Cooperation Alliance for the “Belt and Road”.

Wu made a speech on how to upgrade the building of the “Belt and Road”, and suggested promoting the building of the 21st-century maritime silk road through pan-South China Sea economic cooperation.

The NISCSS was invited to be a member unit of Chinese Think Tank Cooperation Alliance for the “Belt and Road” and Wu was invited to be a member of its council.

Chinese Think Tank Cooperation Alliance for the “Belt and Road” was established on 8 April 2015 by the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC in collaboration with the Development Research Center of the State Council, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Fudan University.

Organized by China Center for Contemporary World Studies and Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, this conference brought together more than 200 representatives from 93 Chinese think tanks and research organizations.
