On 8 May 2017, NISCSS President Wu Shicun headed a delegation to visit the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), and exchanged views with its research staff on the nuclear issue on Korean Peninsula, the current and future situation in the South China Sea, and the building of "One Belt, One Road".
Founded in 1831 by the Duke of Wellington, the RUSI is an influential think tank engaged in cutting-edge defence and security research.
On the evening of the same day, at the invitation of the Henry Jackson Society, Wu made a lecture on the building of "One Belt, One Road" and South China Sea issues, and exchanged views with members of the society on various topics, including early harvest of the "One Belt, One Road", China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, three relationships influencing South China Sea issues, China's South China Sea policy, and Taiwan's factor in South China Sea issues. Chaired by Research Director Timothy Stafford, the lecture brought together over fifty members of the society.
Officials from Chinese embassy in the UK attended the lecture.
Founded in March 2005 in honor of American statesman Henry Jackson, this institute is one of the most influential think tanks in the UK.
The delegation also visited famous legal service agencies in the UK. Zou Keyuan, NISCSS adjunct research professor and Harris Professor in international law at Lancashire Law School of the University of Central Lancashire, accompanied Wu to attend the above-mentioned academic activities.
