On 8 August 2017, a lecture on environmental protection was given at the NISCSS by Dr. Keita Furukawa, senior research fellow with the Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. It was themed "Tokyo Bay: historical inheritance, biological connections and interpersonal relations".  Dr. Keita briefed the audience about the geographical conditions and socioeconomic development of the Tokyo Bay and explained in detail the implementation process of the Tokyo Bay Regeneration project and future integrated management policy.
