From 14 to 15 July 2018, President Wu Shicun attended the 7th World Peace Forum in Beijing at the invitation of Tsinghua University. He delivered keynote speeches respectively at a close-door session on international security and a sub-forum on “the Indo-Pacific Region and the Belt and Road Initiative.”
Themed “Constructing a Security Community: Equality, Equity and Justice”, the Forum brought together more than 300 participants including former politicians, foreign ambassadors and opinion leaders of think tanks around the globe.
At “the Indo-Pacific Region and the Belt and Road Initiative” sub-forum, Dr. Wu analyzed the policy orientation of the United States, Japan, India and Australia towards the Belt and Road Initiative, and the future development of the Indo-Pacific Strategy. Co-speakers included former Japanese Foreign Minister Kawaguchi Yoriko, former Australian Foreign Minister Gareth John Evans, and Chilamkuri Raja Mohan, Director of the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore. And the sub-forum was chaired by Dr. Li Cheng, Director of the John L. Thornton China Center of the Brookings Institute.
Wu Shicun was also interviewed by NHK, Shenzhen Satellite TV and other media during the two-day forum.
