On 22 November 2018, a delegation of Indian think tanks and research institutes visited the NISCSS. Led by Brig Vinod Anand, Senior Fellow of the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), the delegation was comprised of scholars from renowned think tanks and institutes in India such as the VIF, Observer Research Foundation and Jindal School of International Affairs.

The delegation had a roundtable discussion with NISCSS President Wu Shicun and other research fellows at the Institute. They exchanged views on issues of mutual concerns in great depth including the current situation and future development in the South China Sea, the negotiation and consultation of the South China Sea Code of Conduct, prospects of joint development between China and the Philippines, the Belt and Road Initiative, recent progress of Hainan’s development as a pilot free trade zone and free trade port with Chinese characteristics, India’s Look East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Strategy from an Indian perspective.
