From 15 January to 2 February 2019, Admiral Jayanath Colombage, former Chief of Sri Lanka Navy and Director of Centres for Indo-Lanka Initiatives and Law of the Sea of the Pathfinder Foundation, visited the National Institute for South China Sea Studies (NISCSS). 

President Wu Shicun met with Admiral Colombage, and exchanged views with him on opportunities of future cooperation between the NISCSS and Pathfinder Foundation.

On January 29 and February 2, Admiral Colombage held two seminars titled “Sri Lanka and Maldives: two island states at crossroads of geopolitical and geostrategical spheres of influence in Indian Ocean” and “Indo-Pacific strategy and China’s response” at NISCSS respectively. He also received his letter of appointment as NISCSS Adjunct Research Professor from President Wu during the visit.
