From 18-20 February 2019, a NISCSS delegation led by President Wu Shicun visited Brussels, Belgium for academic exchanges. At the renowned think tank “Friends of Europe”, President Wu had an in-depth discussion with Dr. Shada Islam, Director of Europe and Geopolitics, on issues of mutual concern including maritime security in the Asia-Pacific region and the implementation of Belt and Road Initiative. At the Dewit Law Office, Dr. Wu met with Bernard Dewit, Chairman of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and exchanged views on the development of Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and Free Port with Chinese Characteristics.

On 20 February, President Wu visited Ambassador Zhang Ming, Head of the Chinese Mission to the European Union. He also held a seminar on topics including  the state of play of international security and China-EU relations at the Mission’s Reading Club.
