From May 31 to June 2, 2019, NISCSS President Wu Shicun attended the 18th Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, upon the invitation of Dr. John Chipman, Director-General and Chief Executive of International Institute for Strategic Studies.

During the summit, President Wu met with Teo Eng Din, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Singapore. Dr. Wu and Mr. Teo exchanged views on issues of China-US relations, China-Singapore relations and the South China Sea. President Wu was also had interviews with various media such as the China News Service, Phoenix TV, China Review News, Southern Weekend, South China Morning Post, China Radio International, Kyodo News, Asahi Shimbun and Malaysia Chinese News, among others, and answered questions on the US' Indo-Pacific strategy and South China Sea policy.
