From 18 to 19 July 2019, Rachel Esplin Odell, PhD candidate of political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, visited the NISCSS. President Wu Shicun met with Ms. Odell, and had an interview with her on various issues such as China’s South China Sea policy on the, legal issues related to the South China Sea disputes, and China-US competition on maritime security issues.

During her visit, Ms. Odell also held a seminar titled “International Variation in Approaches to Maritime Jurisdiction.”
