On 29 July 2019, a team of scholars from the East Asian Institute (EAI) of National University of Singapore visited the NISCSS for a field study on Hainan’s construction as a pilot free trade zone and free trade port. A roundtable discussion was held on various issues such as policies and institutional arrangement for Hainan Free Trade Zone (Port), development of Hainan’s ocean economy and industrial parks, and potential cooperation opportunities between Hainan and Singapore. Scholars from the NISCSS, China Institute for Reform and Development, and Hainan Institute of Development on International Tourist Destination of Hainan University were present at the roundtable. President Wu Shicun met with EAI scholars, and chaired the discussion.
