Participants and Speakers of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance MLE program visited Hainan maritime safety agencies

On 23 October 2019, which is the 3rd day of the first program on Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE) of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance, participants and speakers had a field trip to Hainan Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) and Haikou Base of Nanhai Rescue Bureau.
The group visited the Qiongzhou Strait Vessel Traffic Service Center and Warehouse for Oil Spill Equipment of Hainan MSA, and board the rescue tug Nai Hai Jiu 113. During the visit, Hainan MSA officers demonstrated how the Vessel Traffic System and Beidou Navigation Satellite System has been used to guarantee the safety and navigation of vessels in the South China Sea. The participants also learnt more about the mechanism of search and rescue at sea and emergency coordination in China, as well as existing international cooperation between Hainan and other countries. Dynamic exchanges were held between participants and their counterparts of Hainan MSA and crew of Nanhai Jiu 113 on relevant experiences and practice on maritime safety management.
