First MLE program of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance Concluded

On 26 October 2019, the First Program on Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE) of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance concluded successfully in Haikou. To wrap up the program, participants presented their group projects, and shared their national practices as well as suggestions for international cooperation in various fields such as maritime search and rescue, ship-sourced pollution and fishery management on a roundtable discussion. They were awarded with the certificate from the Academy for completing the program at the closing ceremony.

Participants spoke highly of the program design and organization. They believe the program has provided a great opportunity to learn from the speakers and fellow participants on relevant laws and practice for maritime law enforcement, and to enhance mutual understanding and friendship, so as to jointly explore opportunities for international cooperation to put the “one ocean” concept into practice.

The First Program on Maritime Law Enforcement of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance brought together 39 participants from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu and Vietnam.
