On 25th October 2019, a forum themed "accelerating the exploration and construction of Hainan free trade port" was held in Haikou, co-organized by the Institute for Free Trade Ports Studies (IFTPS), China Institute for Research and Development (CIRD), National Institute for South China Sea Studies (NISCSS), Pilot Free Trade Zone Research Center of the Counselor's Office of the State Council, and Policy Research Office of CPC Hainan Committee. More than one hundred participants, including government officials, experts, entrepreneurs and media representatives from home and abroad attended the forum. In-depth discussions were held on theoretical and practical policy issues regarding the course of Hainan’s development to be a pilot free trade zone and full-fledged free trade port.
The forum themed "accelerating the exploration and construction of Hainan free trade port" was held in Haikou.
Wu Shicun, president of the NISCSS, and vice president of the IFTPS, chaired the opening ceremony. He also spoke as panelist at a session on the early harvest of the development of Hainan Free Trade Port. In his speech, he introduced relevant experiences of Dubai and Singapore in creating flux economy and the system of rule of law, and made policy recommendations for Hainan accordingly.
NISCSS President, IFTPS Vice President Wu Shicun chaired the opening ceremony and spoke as panelist at a session on the early harvest of the development of Hainan Free Trade Port.
Dr. Wu also received an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency at the forum.
