On 15 November 2019, participants and lecturers of the 5th program of China-ASEAN Academy on Ocean Law and Governance visited the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences (IDSSE of CAS) based in Sanya, Hainan.

Deputy director of IDSSE Science Division Dr. Du Mengran, introduced the research areas, facilities and visions of the IDSSE, and the flagship manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi and Professor Li Songhai briefed on the diversity, conservation challenges and recent bioacoustics research on marine mammals in the South China Sea. The two sides had dynamic and in-depth exchanges on deep-sea relevant issues.
