Wu Shicun Attended “China-Europe Forum” in Brussels

On 19 November 2019, NISCSS President Dr. Wu Shicun attended the 9th “Europe-China Forum” themed “Governance, Divergence and the Vital Space Between” in Brussels, Belgium. About 300 officials, diplomats, scholars and journalists from China, the European Union and other European countries attended the forum.
Dr. Wu introduced the latest development of the situation in the South China Sea and opportunities and challenges regional countries came across in marine cooperation and security. He highlighted the progress and prospects on the consultation of “Code of Conduct” between China and ASEAN countries. “China-EU Blue Year” in 2017 and “China-EU Blue Partnership” Declaration signed during the China-EU Summit in Beijing in 2018, he believed, showed the positive momentum of China-Eu cooperation in the field of ocean, and proved many space for cooperation existed in the field of marine non-traditional security, specifically, maritime search and rescue, marine environmental protection, biological diversity, global ocean governance, etc.
The Forum was jointly held by Friends of Europe, Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union, China Institute for Reform and Development, China Public Diplomacy Association and other institutes.
