China and the Philippines agreed on Saturday to further deepen friendship and promote cooperation between the two countries.

When meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos in Manila, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang said mutual respect, friendship, keeping promises, trustworthiness and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries are in the fundamental interests of both sides. Both experiences and lessons should be learned.

Both sides should further enhance communication, deepen mutual trust and overcome difficulties and disturbances, in order to create favorable conditions for cooperation and ensure sound and stable development of bilateral ties, he said.
