China's GDP grows 4.6% in Q3, optimism buoyed towards future growth targets

China witnessed impressive economic growth during the first three quarters of 2024, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Friday.
The country's gross domestic product (GDP) experienced a growth of 4.6 percent in the third quarter, following a 4.7 percent growth in the second quarter. In the first three quarters, China's GDP grew by 4.8 percent, reaching over 94.97 trillion yuan (about $13.34 trillion), according to the NBS data.
At a press conference on Friday, Sheng Laiyun, NBS deputy director, said that based on the economic performance in the first three quarters and with the incremental policy measures coming into effect, favorable conditions for recovery are growing and confidence in meeting the five-percent annual growth target is strengthening.
