Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday briefed reporters on his meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Rubio on Friday on the sidelines of the ASEAN Plus foreign ministers' meetings held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Wang noted that holding bilateral meetings on multilateral occasions is an international norm. The series of foreign ministers' meetings in the Malaysian capital provided a platform for China-US engagement.
