The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command on Tuesday organized naval and air forces to conduct combat readiness patrols in waters and airspace around territorial waters of China's Huangyan Dao, the PLA Southern Theater Command said on Tuesday.

According to a video released by the PLA Southern Theater Command, the patrols featured several types of advanced warships and warplanes, including the Type 052D destroyer, Type 054A frigate, Type 903A replenishment ship, Z-9 shipborne helicopter, J-16 fighter jet, Su-30 fighter jet and H-6K bomber. The bomber is seen in the video carrying the YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship missile.

Since July, the theater command has consistently intensified patrols and vigilance in the surrounding waters and airspace of Huangyan Dao's territorial waters, further strengthening control over the relevant maritime and aerial areas, resolutely defending national sovereignty and security, and firmly safeguarding peace and stability in the South China Sea, the PLA Southern Theater Command said.
