China's Foreign Ministry on Monday urged Japan to immediately stop interfering in China's internal affairs, after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi hinted at the possibility of military involvement in the Taiwan Strait.

The Japanese leader made "erroneous remarks" on China's Taiwan region in Japan's parliament, blatantly interfering in China's internal affairs and seriously violating the one-China principle, the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, as well as basic norms governing international relations, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a press conference.

"The remarks are seriously inconsistent with the political commitments the Japanese government has made so far, and their nature and impact are extremely egregious," Lin said, adding that China is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposes such remarks, and has made stern representations to Japan.
