WEF managing director: China's shift to high-quality growth injects stability into global economy

Amid persistent global geopolitical tensions and rising risks of economic fragmentation, China's transition from high-speed to high-quality development is delivering much-needed momentum and stability to the global economy, Maroun Kairouz, managing director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has said.
Kairouz described the transition as a strategic shift aimed at achieving more sustainable and resilient development, commending the structural reforms China is currently undergoing, in a written interview.
He said that the transition reflects a focus on innovation, productivity and long-term stability. Positive signals of this shift are particularly evident in the energy sector. In 2024, China's investment in clean energy totaled $818 billion, up 20 percent from the year before.
